The First Visit

The initial consultation with a chiropractor could be an intimidating experience for some. Many people do not know what to expect or what to bring with them. There are several things you’ll want to keep in mind when seeing a chiropractor for the first time.

First, you will need to bring in a number of items for the chiropractor’s reference. These items include any important medical information, and any past films, CAT scans, or MRI’s you’ve had performed.

Second, you will need to fill out a detailed questionnaire outlining your medical history.

You will also need to have a specific physical examination so the chiropractor can identify any problem areas.

You may or may not receive any treatment on the first day. Some chiropractors will get to work right away, after presenting their Report of findings, while others will choose to wait until the second visit. However, no chiropractor will treat on the first day if doing so would be unsafe (e.g. if a patient’s joints are inflamed). It is important to remember to stay relaxed as nothing is done without proper informed consent.
